Critics of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. haven’t spared his supporters from ridicule, with some mocking the Filipinos who went to see him during a surprise visit to a Singapore mall.
Marcos made an unannounced visit to the Lucky Plaza in Orchard Road Sunday (September 17), where he was met by thousands of Filipino supporters.
Photos and videos taken at the event showed Filipinos shoving each other to get near Marcos and have a photo opportunity with him. Many also chanted his initials, “BBM!”
X user @bongbongmarcosx posted a video of Marcos visit with the caption: “Uwi na kayo sa Pilipinas! Golden era na!”
He claimed that the crowd at the mall was “hakot” or paid to attend.
“SURPRISE VISIT – NOT TRUE. Hindi totoong unorganized ang event. Meron silang taga hakot. @bongbongmarcosx said, adding that the supposed contact person for vloggers reportedly works at Radio TV Malacanang.
Other netizens challenged Marcos’ fans in Singapore to return to the Philippines to experience how difficult life has been lately.
“Di nila deserve magtrabaho dyan. Dapat nasa Pilipinas silang lahat,” @FakeAlta said.
“Hahaha. Nakakahiya,” said @iknowedison.
