The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) announced on Tuesday, Sept. 19, its agents have seized over P200 million worth of fake products during operations conducted last week.
The bureau said the fake products seized included Louis Vuitton products, Hennessy alcoholic beverages and liquors, and counterfeit Siemens software.
The agency said the fake Louis Vuitton products were seized on Sept. 12 when the NBI’s Intellectual Property Rights Division (NBI-IPRD) “implemented six (6) Search Warrants against the owners of a stockroom in Tondo, Manila and five (5) stalls in 168 Shopping Mall in Manila for violation of R.A. 8293 (Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines).”
“The operation resulted in the seizure of 1,618 pieces of Louis Vuitton products worth Php121,000,000.00,” it said.
The fake Hennessy products were seized on Sept. 13 when the NBI National Capital Region (NBI-NCR) “implemented nine (9) Search Warrants for violation of R.A. 8293 in Pasay, Parañaque, Manila, Quezon City and Aklan Province respectively.”
“The operations resulted in the seizure of 6,562 bottles of various counterfeit alcoholic beverages and liquors bearing the trademark ‘Hennessy’ with an estimated value of Php 95,000,000.00,” said the agency.
That same day NBI-IPRD operatives “implemented a Search Warrant against Sung Hyung Precision Co., Inc. located in Rosario, Cavite for violation of R.A. 8293.”
“The operation resulted in the seizure of 5 sets of desktop computers bearing counterfeit Siemens Software worth php6,000,000.00,” said the bureau.
