These two politikos besties are travel buddies too.
Vice President Sara Duterte traveled with Senator Imee Marcos for public engagements in two provinces over the weekend.
The journey started with the politiko duo attending the Araw ng Zamboanga del Sur on Sunday, followed by the inauguration of a new commercial ship in Cebu City. Photos of Duterte and Marcos have been shared on their social media pages.
In an Instagram post, Marcos gushed about her joy at spending the day with the Vice President.
“Masaya akong nakasama muli si VP Inday Sara Duterte para sa ika-71 Araw ng Zamboanga del Sur ngayong Linggo, September 17. Maligayang pagdiriwang sa lahat ng taga-Zamboanga del Sur!” Marcos wrote on Instagram.
“Bukod sa pagdalo sa Araw ng Zamboanga del Sur at Megayon Festival, nakasama ko rin si VP Inday Sara Duterte sa blessing at inaugurasyon ng bagong RoRo na MV Lite CAT 2 ng Sunline Shipping Corporation noong Linggo, September 17 sa Cebu City,” she added.
In a Facebook post, Duterte gave her own account of their visit to the two provinces. In Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur, she tackled various programs of the Office of the Vice President such as the Medical and Burial Assistance and PagbaBAGo: A Million Bags and Trees Program.
Also highlighted by Duterte were the Department of Education’s programs anchored on the MATATAG agenda as well as efforts to improve the welfare of teachers and students.
She also joined Marcos for the ceremonial turnover of financial aid for people in need from the Department of Social Welfare and Development during their Zamboanga visit.
From Pagadian City, the two politikos took off to Cebu City for the grand launch of the M/V Lite Cat 2, the newest addition to the Sunline fleet.
The modern roll on/roll off sea vessel cuts the travel time from Cebu-Tubigon, Bohol to two hours from four hours. It can accommodate 453 passengers, 12 buses and trucks and 25 other vehicles, according to the veep.
“Nagpasalamat tayo sa Sunline sa kanilang pagsusumikap na makapagbigay ng world class na serbisyo alinsunod sa panawagan ng suporta ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr sa ating Maritime Industry Development Plan,” Duterte said.
