Bilyonaryo and philanthropist Ramon S. Ang is making it clear that the world of politics is not in his playbook.
In an interview on Anthony Taberna’s YouTube program, the San Miguel Corporation president said he has no political aspirations.
At present, Ang’s focus remains solely on fulfilling his corporate responsibilities and helping people through his charity projects.
“Wala rin ako planong mamulitika. Baka iniisip ninyo kaya ako tumutulong dahil may plano ako, kahit barangay captain, wala po,” Ang said.
The 69-year-old SMC chief then joked about joining the barangay polls when he is older. “Baka pag 85 years old na ako, puwede na ako magbarangay captain sa Tondo,” he said in jest.
But when asked by Taberna if he ever thought of entering politics, Ang didn’t hesitate, saying: “Hindi ho. Ako, araw-araw ang aking isip is trabaho lang.”
Even when supporters launched the “RSA for president” movement, Ang reached out to them to clarify his lack of interest.
“No plans at all. Not even as barangay captain, hindi ho. Walang plano,” he said.
Apart from his daily work grind at SMC, Ang has a heart of gold, providing scholarships, healthcare, and other forms of assistance to people in need. He quietly makes a difference without seeking the spotlight.
“Hindi ako katulad ng iba na dina-dyaryo pa yan, kung sino pinag-aaral, sino pinagamot. Hindi ako ganoon. Hindi tayo yung humahanap ng publicity. Ginagawa natin ang kaya natin para makatulong sa mga kababayan natin,” he said.
Ang’s mantra is also clear: Keep a simple lifestyle and share blessings with others.
“Yung pera hindi mo madadala kaya huwag mo dyo-dyosin ang pera. Yung pera is Meant to be shared, is used to help our country, our people,” the bilyonaryo said.
“Huwag tayo magdamot sa mga kababayan natin,” he added.
