Three inmates were killed and 64 others wounded from the latest riot inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City, said Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra on Monday (Nov. 9).
“I have been informed that violence among inmates broke out again at the NBP maximum security compound this morning,” he said.
“Three persons were killed and 64 wounded,” revealed Guevarra who cited a report he received from the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor).
On the other hand, Guevarra assured that “the BuCor security force, PNP SAF, and PNP NCRPO SWAT are conducting clearing operations.”
“The DOJ (Department of Justice) has ordered the BuCor to submit a detailed report ASAP,” the secretary said.
“I will direct the NBI (National Bureau of Investigation) to conduct a parallel investigation or expand its ongoing probe into the previous violence,” he added.
