4 aspirants for SC post up for JBC interview
The Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) is set to interview this Wednesday (Feb. 13) four candidates seeking a seat at the Supreme Court (SC) which was vacated by Chief Justice Lucas Bersamin.
Those who will be facing the JBC for a public interview are Court of Appeals (CA) Justices Henry Jean Paul Inting, Jhosep Lopez and Nina Antonio-Valenzuela, and Court of Tax Appeals (CTA) Justice Roman del Rosario.
On the other hand, 18 other candidates are also vying for the post but their previous interviews remain valid.
They are Court Administrator Jose Midas Marquez; Sandiganbayan Justices Amparo Cabotaje-Tang and Efren dela Cruz; former Ateneo Law dean Cesar Villanueva; and CA Justices Oscar Badelles, Ramon Bato Jr., Apolinario Bruselas Jr., Ramon Cruz, Stepehen Cruz, Edgardo delos Santos, Japar Dimaampao, Ramon Garcia, Amy Lazaro-Javier, Mario Lopez, Eduardo Peralta Jr., and Ricardo Rosario.
“The public may submit a sworn complaint, report, or opposition against any of the aforesaid candidates,” the JBC, meanwhile, stated.
The JBC begun accepting applications for post on December 7 until January 22.
The seat was vacated after President Rodrigo Duterte appointed last November 26 Bersamin as chief justice.
