Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Jaime Morente said that a total 46 immigration personnel have been found infected with the COVID-19 disease.
“The good news is that, so far, none of our employees have succumbed to the virus,” Morente said in a statement.
“We are doing our best in seeing to it that health protocols aimed at preventing the spread of the virus are strictly observed in our offices and workplaces,” he also assured
Among the number, Morente said nine have already recovered and 37 are still quarantined in government facilities including one still confined in a hopsital.
Morente noted half of those who contracted the virus are currently assigned at the BI main office in Intramuros, Manila.
The rest are stationed in other places such as the international airports in Pasay and Cebu, and the bureau’s satellite and extension offices.
