6-8 na lang? Sereno optimistic SC justices will reverse decision on her ouster

Ousted Supreme Court (SC) Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno believes some of the justices will have a change of heart regarding her removal.
This is the reason why Sereno said she will still file a motion for reconsideration before the SC asking to overturn the decision to oust her.
“Ang nature ng motion for reconsideration is a recognition that decision can always be reversed,” she said she said during a television interview on State of the Nation.
“There have been many instances of reversal. So why should I deny that can happen it can happen,” she said.
The SC en banc voted 8-6 last May 11 to grant the quo warranto petition against her.
Solicitor General Jose Calida filed the petition which sought to void her 2012 appointment as chief justice since she failed to submit her statement of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALN) which was one of the requirements set by the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC).
Sereno reiterated that granting the quo warranto was a judicial suicide on the part of the SC.
“What is very clearly ang unconstitutional position and ang linaw linaw nun sa dissents na talaga na unconstitutional, illegal and in fact judicial seppuku,” said the former chief magistrate.
Meanwhile, Sereno believes those behind her removal fear that she might win during the impeachment trial against her.
“So kung sinasabi nila na meron akong kakulangan o maling ginawa eh parang bakit parang takot na takot sila sa impeachment trial,” she said during a television interview on State of the Nation.
Regardless, Sereno still believes that she still won in spite of her ouster.
“Yan ang pinaka-magandang big sign ng victory in addition to the fact na sinabi ko na moral victory nga eh,” she added.
