Malacañang is reportedly not yet alarmed even after the country’s coronavirus cases have surged past 70,000 mark.
The latest calm pronouncement of Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque prompted actress Jennylyn Mercado to ask which number of COVID infections will finally alarm Malacañang.
“Ano po ba yung dapat maachieve nating number bago po siya maging alarming?” the actress asked Roque on Twitter.
Mercado was reacting to a Manila Bulletin news article titled “Palace: 70k COVID-19 cases not alarming but should concern all.” Roque was quoted in the report: “I wouldn’t really say it’s something alarming but it should concern all of us.”
As of July 23, the COVID cases in the Philippines have increased 74,390 with 1,871 deaths.
