The brother of trusted administration stalwart, Budget Secretary Butch Abad will be taking part in an oath taking for United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) members today, September 14.

A text advisory from the Office of the Vice President (OVP) revealed that Engineer Nicanor Abad as well as incumbent Batanes Governor Vicente Gato will be sworn in to the opposition party at 3:30 p.m. at the Coconut Palace.

Vice President Jejomar Binay sits as chairman of UNA, which was launched formally as a party only last July. He is a top President Benigno Aquino III critic and as well as a presidential candidate in the 2016 elections.

Secretary Abad is a former Liberal Party (LP) president and remains a key personality in the ruling party. He is an ex-Batanes congressman.
