Abaya says Poe should read first before shooting her mouth off on MRT

Transportation Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya has advised Senator Grace Poe to read in full the Ombudsman’s 39-page resolution on the investigation regarding the questionable interim service contract for the MRT-3 before commenting on why he was excluded from the list of those who should be charged with graft.

Abaya said it’s unbelievable that Poe only chooses to believe the parts of the Ombudsman’s report recommending the filing of charges against former MRT General Manager Al Vitangcol and five other individuals but question the same document for leaving him out of the list of respondents.

“Inamin niya hindi pa niya nababasa ‘yung resolution so maganda hintayin natin mabasa yung full resolution kung bakit naging ganun ‘yung decision ng Ombudsman,” he said in an interview aired on GMA News TV’s “News to Go” program.

Over the weekend, Poe questioned why Abaya, a close ally of President Benigno Aquino III, was not included among the individuals whom the Ombudsman deems to be responsible for the allegedly anomalous contract worth $1.15 million monthly when it was signed during his time in the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC).

“I would like to read the text of the resolution in full to find out the reasons why DOTC Sec. Joseph Emilio Abaya was not included despite having allegedly signed the contract presumably with full knowledge of the facts and the applicable law surrounding such anomalous procurement of services,” she said.
