As far as Chief Justice Ma. Lourdes Sereno is concerned, requesting for a copy of a Supreme Court magistrate’s Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) has become easier since she was picked to head the judiciary.

In a speech before the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas last week, Sereno said the Supreme Court is studying the possibility of posting the summaries and other pertinent details in the Justices’ SALN on its website in an effort to improve the public’s access to these documents. But she clarified that the proposal does not mean the current system for releasing copies of the SALN is insufficient.

“These notwithstanding, I have been asked repeatedly about the issue of accessibility of our SALNs. I fail to see the problem here because these SALNs are accessible, upon request, and since 2012, you would have seen a noticeable rise in access to the SALNs of the members of the Court,” she said.

Sereno assumed the post of Chief Magistrate in August 2012.
