Acosta sets condition for Antonio Sanchez’s early release: ‘Pag pinatawad na ng pamilya OK na!
Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) Chief Persida Acosta on Thursday (August 22) has expressed opposition in the granting of the early from prison of former Calauan, Laguna mayor Antonio Sanchez.
“Ako rin po ay tumututol,” she told reporters.
The PAO chief explained an inmate should only be granted early release if a person has truly changed and has been forgiven by the victim or the families.
“Talagang clean records sa loob, nagbagong buhay,” she said
“Pag pinatawad na ng mga kamag-anak pwede na yun,” Acosta added.
Concerns has been raised that Sanchez could be released early due to Republic Act 10592 which increased the grant of good conduct time allowance (GCTA) to inmates.
This was further aggravated when the Supreme Court (SC) ruled that GCTAs accumulated prior the passage of the law in 2013 should also be included.
