ADMU vs. UST: Peralta shares fearless forecast on UAAP 82 men’s basketball finals
The University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers will be hoisting the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) basketball championship trophy this year.
This is the fearless forecast of UST Civil Law alumni, Chief Justice Diosdado Peralta.
“Sa championship mag-lalaban ang Ateneo at UST,” Peralta declared.
“Lalampasuhin ang Ateneo,” he boasted.
Peralta said coach Tab Baldwin of the Ateneo de Manila Blue Eagles has already admitted before media of his fear against matching up against the Tigers in the finals.
“Sinabi niya ang UST dark horse ito,” he recounted.
Before taking on the defending champions in the finals, the Growling Tigers will have to overcome in the semifinals the twice-to-beat University of the Philippines (UP) Fighting Maroons which they will face this Sunday (Nov. 10).
Because of this, Peralta believes Ateneo is hoping that UP will be the one it faces in the finals.
“I think the Ateneans are praying that the Tigers will lose,” he said.
The chief magistrate expressed confidence that UST will hurdle the semifinals since the Maroons have not defeated the Growling Tigers this season.
“Baka first half pa lang alam mo na talo ang UP e,” the chief justice said.
Since UP need to win only once, Peralta admitted that the there is a chance the Maroons might overcome the Growling Tigers.
“Kaya lang baka may tsamba sila,” he said.
Meanwhile, Peralta assured he will be cheering for the Growling Tigers at home.
“Mahirap andoon, sasbihin si chief justice nanood kaya natalo.” he said in jest.
