President Rodrigo Duterte has enjoined Filipinos to join advocacies that empower women.

“I urge the people to participate in advocacies and activities that promote women empowerment,” Duterte said Wednesday.

Duterte made the statement in a recorded speech aired during the virtual kick-off ceremony of the 2021 National Women’s Month celebration.

“I join the entire nation in celebrating the Women’s Month. The government recognizes the role of women in nation-building and upholding the fundamental equality before the law of both genders,” according to him.

“This is why we are working relentlessly to ensure that they will have equal access to education, economic opportunities, health care and social services, and growth opportunities,” he added,

The Chief Executive also urged everyone to work together to ensure that the needs and rights of women are met.

“Let us all work hand-in-hand to address the needs of women and honor their immense contribution to society. Mabuhay ang ating kababaihan,” Duterte concluded.
