Agree siya kay Del Rosario! PH can raise arbitration win vs China to UN, says Panelo

Malacañang said the Philippine government may bring its arbitration win against China before the United Nations (UN) General Assembly.
“Mayroong mga issues ng ibang bansa na dinadala sa General Assembly and they take unified action,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo told reporters Tuesday.
Panelo made this remark after former Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario said the decision of the South China Sea Arbitration by the Permanent Court of Arbitration can be used to support the Philippine claim to the disputed SCS waters.
Going to the UN General Assembly to settle territorial claim disputes in the South China Sea, the chief presidential legal counsel said, is an “option.”
He said, “Isa sa mga option iyon. I will let—I’m not the President, I’m just his Spokesman. It’s for the President’s decision. I’m just giving you my thoughts on it na puwedeng gawin ‘yan.”
“Everything is possible. Kung you’re talking of possibilities, maraming posible. But whether magiging effective or not is another story,” according to him.
In 2016, the Hague-based tribunal ruled in favor of the Philippines, nullifying China’s nine-dash line map.
