Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Jay Velasco appeared to have thrown some serious shade at Taguig Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano, by renaming his Facebook page on his rival’s birthday.
On Wednesday, October 28, Velasco renamed his eponymous Facebook page as “House Speaker Lord Allan Jay Velasco.”
The name change of Velasco’s Facebook page happened barely two weeks since Cayetano was ousted as Speaker for his refusal to turn over the position to the Marinduque lawmaker in keeping with their term sharing agreement.
Velasco was elected as Speaker in proceedings done at the Celebrity Sports Plaza on October 12. The result was ratified at the plenary the following day.
Cayetano admitted that he wanted to stay on as Speaker beyond October 14, the date set by Velasco for the turnover of the position under their term-sharing agreement, because he was keen on celebrating his birthday as the top leader of the House of Representatives.
“When we made the ’15-21,’ at sabi ko nandiyan si Senator Bong Go, very, very clear ‘yung usapan: I have two budgets na ipapasa and magbi-birthday ako na ako ang Speaker,” Cayetano said in a September 30 speech at the House.
The Taguig lawmaker, however, acknowledged that he and Velasco had the same wish. The Marinduque congressman will turn 43 on November 9.
“Sabi nya, ‘birthday ko rin eh!’ Sabi ko, ‘50th birthday ko. Sentimental ako.’ Sabi ‘nya, ‘Ang babaw mo naman.’ ‘Ang babaw ko talaga!” Cayetano said.
