Alam ni Duterte: Aiza Seguerra resigns as Nat’l Youth Commission chair for personal reasons

Former child star Aiza Seguerra has resigned from his post as chairperson of the National Youth Commission for personal reasons.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the Office of Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea has already received Seguerra’s resignation letter.

In a Facebook post, Seguerra said he met with Duterte on March 5 to personally tell him he will step down from his post.

“Knowing how social media can exaggerate or twist the truth, I wanted to make sure that he’s going to hear it from me. He was very understanding and supportive of my decision,” he said.

Seguerra described Duterte as being “like a father” who understood his reasons and listened to him.

“I told him how much I valued his trust and how this experience made me appreciate public service and our public servants,” he said.

Seguerra was appointed to head the NYC in August 2016.

His wife, Liza Diño, is the chairperson of the Film Development Council of the Philippines.
