Former Magdalo party-list representative Gary Alejano hs accused President Rodrigo Duterte of using the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) in getting back at his critics.
“It’s obvious that this administration is using these two agencies for political persecution, to bully its critics, in deliberate deviance of the Prosecution Service Act, P.D. 478 and the Administrative Code,” he said in a statement.
Alejano is facing before the Department of Justice (DOJ) a sedition complaint concerning his alleged involvement a destabilization plot that led to the creation off the “Ang Totoong Narcolist” video series.
The complaint was filed by the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) which is being represented by the OSG during the preliminary investigation of the complaint at the DOJ.
Meanwhile, Alejano has filed a petition before the CA seeking to stop the preliminary investigation as well as to disqualify the DOJ panel or prosecutors and the OSG from participating in the case.
“It is our position that the Court should intervene to stop this continuing and deliberate disregard of the law,” Alejano stated.
