Alejano lauds Del Rosario, Morales for suing China president: This is slap on Duterte admin
Magdalo party-list Rep. Gary Alejano on Friday cheered former Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario and former Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales for suing China’s president Xi Jinping before the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity.
“I salute and fully support former DFA Secretary Albert Del Rosario, former Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales and the thousands of Filipino fishermen abused in the hands of Chinese forces for filling a case against Chinese President Xi Jinping in the ICC,” he said.
The Otso Diretso senatorial candidate called Del Rosario and Morales’ act a “slap to the Philippine government,” saying it was something the administration should be doing instead of former officials.
“This is a slap to the Philippine government who has failed to exact accountability and punish the countless transgressions of China against Filipino fishermen and the destruction of our marine environment,” he said.
Alejano said the Duterte administration is a “failure.”
“In the face of China, it is nothing but a pet bowing down to the marches of its master. This is betrayal to our nation,” he said.
“In these crucial times, I call on our armed forces and coast guard to be steadfast on its duty to protect our territory and fellow Filipinos. Our security and sovereignty are in your hands. Huwag niyo sanang biguin ang mga kababayan nating Pilipino,” he added.
