From a bungling ball-dropper to a “no-nonsense” action man in a span of one week – who could be behind Health Secretary Francisco Duque III’s quick change of image?
Sen. Panfilo Lacson raised this question Wednesday as he noted all signs point to Duque engaging a public relations firm to address his “ball handling” problem.
“He is all over the news lately. Obviously, he has hired a PR firm to address his ‘ball handling’ problem. I bet it won’t be the last funny, crazy act that he will be instructed to perform. Question is, who’s paying?” Lacson said in a post on his Twitter account.

Last Dec. 16, Lacson bared it was Duque who dropped the ball in government’s efforts to procure COVID vaccines from the United States.
Citing information from Philippine ambassador to Washington Jose Romualdez, Lacson said Duque was delayed in signing a Confidentiality Disclosure Agreement to seal the deal.
Duque has since been visible on television and radio, in interviews and in photo-video opportunities where he downplayed the incident and instead “focused” on inspecting social distancing protocols during the holidays.
Earlier this week, he brandished a stick to personally measure distance between customers and remind them to maintain distance.
