Following the release of a matrix linking some journalists in the alleged plot to oust President Rodrigo Duterte, Communications Secretary Martin Andanar on Tuesday pushed for responsible sharing of “truthful” information.
“Kailangan we should practice our civic responsibility of sharing only truthful, correct, the right information,” Andanar said in an interview on DZXL.
If the public allows for the spread of disinformation, the Presidential Communications Operations Office chief said the Filipino voters will ultimately be on the losing end.
“Kung hayaan natin iyong fake news na manalo, o iyong disinformation na magwagi ay we are actually allowing ourselves to be cheated by way of ano, isang eleksyon na hindi malinis, hindi patas. Unclean, ‘di ba, unfair na halalan which destroys basically the democratic process of electing a person,” said Andanar.
He also encouraged everyone to come together to fight false or misleading information.
