Ang ganda ng Europe! Tito Sotto offers alternatives to Bato amid US visa cancellation
Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III offered alternative places for Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa to travel to following the reported cancellation of his American visa.
In a radio interview Saturday (December 14), Sotto said Dela Rosa could go to Europe.
“Wala akong info tungkol diyan pero ang ganda ganda ng Europe,” he said when asked about Dela Rosa’s situation.
Sotto said Dela Rosa also made the right decision to travel to Australia in January next year since it is a “beautiful” country.
“Sabihin mo kay Bato maganda Australia,” the Senate leader said.
Politiko reported that the US had cancelled Dela Rosa’s visa since May 2019.
A soource told Politiko that US officials had cited the Asia Reassurance Initiative Act (ARIA) as basis for the cancellation of the senator’s visa.
ARIA allows the US to provide $1.5 billion in security assistance to its allies in the Indo-Pacific region on the basis of promoting democracy, human rights and rule of law.
Dela Rosa said he has not yet received any formal communication from US officials about the cancellation of his visa.
