Ano ba talaga Amcara? House panel to probe alleged ABS-CBN dummy
The House committee on good government and public accountability will look into the relationship between ABS-CBN and Amcara Broadcasting Network, which owns Channel 43.
Cavite Rep. Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla moved to investigate the two networks at the continuation of the joint committee hearings on ABS-CBN’s franchise Monday (July 6).
“I move that we investigate amcara on the committee on good government or the blue ribbon committee together with the National Telecommunication Commission’s testimonies and to go to the bottom of this block time agreement which is refuse to believe is a block time arrangement but a usufruct,” he said.
Remulla earlier called Amcara a “dummy” of ABS-CBN because the former’s equipment came from the latter.
ABS-CBN claimed it only had a blocktime agreement with Amcara for airing its channels, such as Cinemo, Yey, Teleradyo and Jeepney TV.
The National Telecommunications Commission last week ordered ABS-CBN to stop airing its channels on Amcara’s Channel 43, since it was supposedly covered by the cease and desist order issued by the regulator last May.
