Ano bang meron sa DOH? Ubial asking Duque to appoint her as undersecretary

Former Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Paulyn Ubial is bent on staying in the agency despite her failure to get the Commission on Appointment’s nod.

Politiko has learned that Ubial is urging her successor, Francisco Duque III, to appoint her as Health Undersecretary.

In an apparent sign she’s determined to remain part of DOH, Ubial was present at the flag-raising ceremony Monday (October 30), Duque’s first as Secretary.

When Duque’s comeback to the DOH was announced last week, Ubial only had kind words to say about her successor.

“I congratulate my boss, Sec. Francisco Duque III for getting reappointed. Mabuhay! I will support him as he had supported me,” she tweeted.

Ubial served as DOH’s regional director for the Davao Region from 2006 to 2008, when Duque was at the helm of the agency. She was promoted to Assistant Secretary for Health Regulations in 2008, and went on to serve in that capacity until her appointment as Health Secretary.
