There is no need to expand the enhanced community quarantine imposed on Luzon to cover Visayas and Mindanao for now, according to Interior Secretary Eduardo Año.

In a televised briefing Wednesday, Año said that most confirmed cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) are reported in Luzon, particularly in Metro Manila.

“Ang ating pinakamaraming cases talaga ay sa Luzon, lalo na dito sa Metro Manila. But, in Visayas and Mindanao, na naka-general community quarantine. Meron ding mga (local government units) na nag declare ng enhanced community quarantine, depende sa number of positive cases sa kanilang lugar,” the secretary explained.

As of 4 p.m. today, the Department of Health has recorded a total 636 Covid-19 cases across the country, with 26 recoveries and 38 casualties.

“Sa ngayon, hindi pa naman kailangang buong Visayas at Mindanao para tuloy-tuloy pa naman ang kanilang normal na buhay, lalo na yung trabaho at food production.

“But, if there is necessity and depending on the development, i-assess ng IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases) yan,” he added.
