Interior Secretary Eduardo Año is in favor of the possible extension of the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon.
Año, who is currently on home quarantine after testing positive for the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), said the country’s lockdown measures against Covid-19 should extend until the number of infections declines.
“As far as I am concerned, I think it’s better to continue the lockdown until we have flattened the curve so we will not have any relapse,” he said in an interview on ANC Sunday.
The vice-chairman of the National Action Plan council against COVID-19 said the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases will meet on Monday afternoon to decide on the lifting or extension of the quarantine.
To control the spread of the viral disease, Duterte placed the entire Luzon under a month-long quarantine last March 16.
The Philippines currently has 3,094 confirmed cases of Covid-19, including 144 fatalities and 57 recoveries.
