Anong issue ni Villar? Koko says PDP-Laban, Nacionalista are still allies
Much ado about nothing was how Senate President Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III reacted to Sen. Cynthia Villar’s displeasure with the alleged unfair treatment of the Nacionalista Party (NP) by the ruling PDP-Laban Party.
Villar, a member of NP, last Monday reminded Pimentel, PDP-Laban president, that they’re in a coalition only with President Duterte.
Villar made the statement in reaction to Pimentel’s pronouncements that coalition partners seeking to be endorsed by PDP-Laban will have meet at least two conditions – rally behind federalism and support the programs of Duterte until the end of the President’s term.
“Marami pang time. Marami pang time, wag na munang mag react dyan. Marami pang time. (Sa) Oct. pa naman (start) ang filing (of certificate of candidacies),” Pimentel said.
Villar is among those due for re-election in the 2019 midterm polls.
Pimentel tried to downplay Villar’s assertions that the NP is not being treated fairly by PDP-Laban.
“Pareho naman kaming nasa majority (bloc) pa (rin). If you look at the House (of Representatives), magkasama pa rin sa majority ang PDP(-Laban) and Nacionalista (NP) so respetado pa din. So what is the issue? Pwede pa kaming mag usap,” he said.
