Anong nagawa niyo sa sports? Medialdea blasts Phisgoc critics, says PH SEA Games hosting has Duterte’s support

Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea on Wednesday slammed critics who questioned the role of Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committing (Phisgoc) Foundation in organizing the Philippines’ hosting of the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games later this year.
“Hindi kagaya ng iba diyan na puro tirada lang wala namang binibigay na suporta para sa bayan. Hinahamon ko yung mga maiingay, magpakita kayo ng tinulong ninyo para sa sports at sa mamamayang Pilipino,” said Medialdea during the Call for Unity for the 30th Southeast Asian Games held in Malacañang.
He added that President Rodrigo Duterte has given his full support as the country hosts the 30th SEA Games in November.
“This meeting is called within the walls of Malacanang Palace to show that President Duterte is giving his 100 percent support to the country’s hosting of the 30th Southeast Asian Games. Full support ang President, hindi kagaya ng minumungkahi ng iba na wala daw po kaming awtoridad na mag isyu ng kung anu-anong order,” according to him.
Medialdea also expressed confidence that the Phisgoc Foundation, Philippine Sports Commission, and the Philippine Olympic Committee “will be able to bring this year’s SEA Games to its outstanding fruition.”
In his July 24 column for the Manila Times, Ramon Tulfo claimed that Medialdea issued Memorandum Circular 56 “without the President’s knowledge.”
Said memorandum enjoined all government agencies and government-controlled corporations to support the Phisgoc Foundation in the preparation, organization, and holding of the SEA Games.
Duterte had said he would not let Phisgoc organize the SEA Games hosting as he wanted the government to handle it.
