The House leadership has urged Filipinos to sow unity and forgiveness this coming New Year.

In her New Year’s message, former President and now House Speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo encouraged the public to greet 2019 “with gratitude to God for all His blessings.”

“Let us not build fences but spread kindness and compassion,” she said.

Arroyo’s message came two days after the Pasay City Regional Trial Court dismissed her case in connection with her alleged participation over the alleged poll fraud during 2007 senatorial elections.

“Let us not sow division but unity, not hate but forgiveness,” Arroyo added.

The case was the last pending criminal rap of the former chief executive following the Supreme Court dismissal of her plunder case in 2016.

Arroyo, who is expected to retire from politics after June 2019, also hopes for a peaceful and prosperous country next year.

“May this new year bring us endless opportunities to fulfill our dreams and be a true blessing to others. Wishing you all a joyous and prosperous 2019!” said Arroyo.
