Chief Justice Diosdado Peralta has urged law enforcement agencies to unmask and arrest those behind the ambush of Judge Gaminde-San Joaquin in Libmanan, Camarines Sur on Tuesday afternoon (Oct. 20).
“I urge all enforcement agencies to immediately investigate the matter and ensure that the perpetrators of this crime are apprehended,” Peralta said in a statement.
The chief justice said he condemned Friday’s ambush which resulted in the wounding of the judge and her aide, Rocelle Martinez.
“An attack on our judges is an assault on the Rule of Law,” the chief justice stated.
“This is no place in a civilized society like ours,” he added.
Police said the two victims were together aboard a service vehicle on their way to the office when motorcycle-riding suspects appeared and fired at the vehicle.
The two victims were taken to the Libmanan District Hospital.
