Asymptomatic but in isolation: Tagle tests positive for COVID-19
Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle has tested positive for COVID-19, the news service of the Vatican reported Friday (September 11).
Tagle, the Vatican’s prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, was confirmed to have contracted the virus upon his arrival in Manila, according to the Deutsche version of the Vatican News.
Quoting the Vatican Press Office, the Vatican News said Tagle is asymptomatic but will be in quarantine while in the Philippines.
The Vatican’s news service said checks are already being conducted among individuals Tagle came into close contact with in recent days. The former Manila archbishop was in Turin this week to take part in the episcopal ordination of the Apostolic Nuncio for Mongolia, Fr. Girogio Marengo.
Prior to flying to Manila, Tagle tested negative for COVID-19 in Rome on September 7, the Vatican News reported.
