Atat si Imee! Marcos backs Senate probe on Phisgoc-Cayetano over 2019 SEA Games
Senator Imee Marcos wants the Senate to investigate the controversies surrounding the 2019 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games even if the Office of the Ombudsman is doing its own probe.
Marcos said she believes the Ombudsman’s focus will be different compared to the Senate’s.
“Iba naman kasi ‘pag Ombudsman investigation tapos kaso. Dito naman in aid of legislation. Iba naman ang topic nila. Iba ang topic namin,” she said.
Senator Christopher “Bong” Go has said that the Senate committee on sports, which he chairs, will probe the glitches which marred the country’s hosting of SEA Games.
The biennial athletic meet was staged by the Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee headed by House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano.
Prior to the SEA Games’ formal opening on Nov. 30, several foreign delegates complained of problems about their transportation, accommodation, food, as well as the venues of some of the games.
