CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar was lauded as one of the Outstanding Alumni by the Xavier University- Ateneo de Cagayan on Friday (Nov.29).
In a radio program, Cabinet Report sa Teleradyo, Andanar expressed his thanks to the Ateneo de Cagayan Alumni Association for giving him the recognition of Outstanding Alumnus Award for Professional Service in Communication.
“I dedicate this prestigious award to my grandparents, parents, family, former teachers, classmates, and present colleagues. Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam!” he said.
“Just like the slogan of the Xavier University – being men for others – that reminded me and other awardees that what we are doing today, is not just for ourselves but also for the greater glory of God,” he added.
Andanar revealed that the audio-visual room where he received his award is where he first dealt with his stage fright.
“It is the exact same room where I first faced my stage fright, when I delivered my first elocution speech twenty-nine years ago. Symbolic indeed, as it is what led me to become a broadcaster,” said Andanar, who finished his grade school and high school education at Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan.
The academic institution’s Outstanding Alumni Awarding Ceremony is an annual event which recognizes individuals who have contributed to the advancement of the community and the society and have served as role models for others.
The PCOO chief received the award on the sidelines of his official engagements with the local media and key movers in the city in line with his responsibilities and duties as the Cabinet Officer for Regional Development and Security for Northern Mindanao (CORDS-X).
