Awkward moment? Duterte bumps into fired PCUP chief Ridon

Former Philippine Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP) chair Terry Ridon remained grateful for serving the government despite getting fired for excessive foreign travels last December.

Ridon recently had a brief encounter with the President and seized the chance to thank him for giving him a shot at the executive branch.

“Six months after leaving government, we were able to personally thank the President for the opportunity to serve the nation,” he captioned a snap with the President on Instagram.

“We wish him the best as the government moves forward in its twin peace agenda in enacting the organic law of the Bangsamoro and pursuing an interim peace agreement with the National Democratic Front. With all parties seeking to resolve the roots of the armed conflict, all Filipinos can certainly hope for a just, durable peace in the land,” he added.

The President dismissed Ridon after finding out he traveled abroad seven times despite leading an urban poor agency.

Other PCUP commissioners were also fired by the President. He discovered the PCUP never had only a few meeetings even though it was supposed to be a collegial body.
