ABS-CBN’s big stars proved Friday (February 21) they’re not just keyboard warriors when it comes to calling for the network’s franchise renewal.
Several Kapamilya actors and actresses took to the streets to urge lawmakers to extend ABS-CBN’s franchise for another 25 years.
Wearing white shirts, the Kapamilya talents joined thousands of the network’s employees and supporters in a rally outside ABS-CBN’s gate along Sgt. Esguerra Avenue in Quezon City.
Coco Martin, star of ABS-CBN’s hit series, “Ang Probinsyano,” said the network’s nearly 11,000 employees are at risk of losing their jobs if its franchise isn’t renewed.
“Hindi ko hahayaan na isang araw magising na lang ako na ‘yung pinagkakautangan ko ng loob, ng maraming empleyado, na nagbigay sa ‘min ng hanapbuhay para matupad ang aming mga pangarap ay mawala na lang nang bigla,” he said.
Jericho Rosales said he joined the rally to fight for the jobs of ABS-CBN’s employees.
“Nandito lang ako para sumama sa paikusap, pag-apela, humihiling na sana ‘wag tapusin ang prangkisa ng ABS-CBN,” he said.
Other stars spotted at the rally were Shaina Magdayao, Jayson Gainza, Angel Aquino, John Prats, Joel Torre, Dominic Ochoa, Yassi Pressman and Nikki Valdez.
