Ayaw ng buffet! Duterte eats ‘bulad’ in Papua New Guinea
President Rodrigo Duterte has brought dried fish in Papua New Guinea where he is attending the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders’ Meeting.
Former Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go, on his Facebook page, posted Sunday Duterte’s photos while eating dried fish or “bulad.”
“Kahit nasa Papua New Guinea, bulad pa rin ang kinakain ni Tatay Digong,” Go said.
Duterte, in a speech with the Filipino community on Friday night, November 16, said he always brings with him corned beef, dried fish and sardines whenever he goes abroad.
“Ang totoo talaga maniwala kayo o hindi, every time… Ah maski kayo magpunta kayo sa hotel, bigyan ko kayo, tagai sila og kuwan carne norte. Nagbabaon ako ng carne norte pati tuyo at sardinas. Ayaw ninyong maniwala, bigyan ko kayo. Iyan lang ang kinakain ko. Hindi ako pwede ‘yan na pagkain na ‘yung buffet makita ko ‘yung ano,” he said.
Duterte made the statement after he was criticized for skipping some of the events at the recently concluded Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and Related Summits in Singapore before flying to Papua New Guinea.
One of the events he skipped was the ASEAN-Australia Informal Breakfast Summit.
In jest, Duterte wondered if the Australians would feed them with kangaroo.
