President Rodrigo Duterte admits there is much work to be done to perfect the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL).
In a speech delivered in Malacanang on Tuesday, Duterte directed officials of the Bangsamoro region to quickly resolve the challenges in the new autonomous entity.
“Ang bayan natin medyo malayo pa. We still have to perfect the BOL. I am now the one government that is hurrying them up. We have so much resources. They say that Liguasan Marsh contains all the — or whatever you need to build a nation, if there is such money there. Ako na ang nagsasabi ‘bilisan ninyo, ayusin ninyo’,” the Chief Executive added.
Duterte also hinted of “breakdown in the efficient communication between the central government (and the) BOL.”
“I seldom see them in the official — well, ceremonies, functions and all. I could not even gather them in one room to sit down and discuss what needs to be done. And so sinasabi ko sa kanila ‘bilisan ninyo.’ Because this is really the opportunity for us now to connect to them and be true to our word ‘yung majority ng mga Kristiyanos na ibigay namin sa inyo ‘yung inyo,” he said.
Duterte signed the BOL in July 2018 that resulted in the establishment of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, paving the way for a lasting peace in war-torn Mindanao.
