Vice President Leni Robredo once again denied having a boyfriend after President Rodrigo Duterte insinuated she’s spending nights at someone’s house.
In a Facebook post Thursday (November 20), Robredo slammed those behind spreading fake news about her.
“Marami nang beses nilang sinabi na nanlalaki ako. Ilang beses, nag post ng mga pictures na kung sino sinong kasama ko, sinasabing boyfriend ko. Dalawang beses, kaibigan kong gay yung napagbintangan,” she said.
Robredo also discussed about the persistent rumors that she’s dating someone working for her. She did not mention any names, but critics have repeatedly accused her of being in a relationship with former Quezon City Rep. Jorge “Bolet” Banal.
“’Yung paulit ulit na ginagamit, yung nagtratrabaho for me na assigned ng aming partido to handle my political needs. Siya yung kadalasan nag cocoordinate ng lahat na concerns with politicians and with local leaders. Pag ang lakad ko may halong engagement with politicians, kasama siya sa team,” the Vice President explained.
Robredo expressed dismay about the persistent rumors hounding her supposed love life, saying she doesn’t want the man’s family dragged into the issue.
“Napakabait sa amin ng buong pamilya niya. Tumutulong sila sa maraming proyekto namin hanggang ngayon. Huwag na sana nilang idamay sa kabastusan nila kung ako lang naman ang pinupuntirya nila,” she said.
In his public address earlier this week, Duterte asked Robredo where she had been staying as the hashtag, #NasaanAngPangulo trended because of his supposed absence at the onslaught of Typhoon Ulysses.
Addressing Robredo, the President asked: “Kung sabihin ko tuloy sa iyo, what time did you go home? Ikaw noong gabi, anong oras ka umuwi? Isang bahay ka lang ba? Dalawang bahay ka? Tatanong lang ako kasi congressman ka. At kaninong bahay ka natagalan? Iyan ang sabihin ko sa iyo.”
