Bagong bago pa! Bato: Chopper carrying PNP chief Gamboa just 2 years old
The helicopter carrying Philippine National Police chief General Archie Gamboa, which crashed in Laguna Thursday (March 5), is brand new, Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa said.
In an interview over dzBB radio, Dela Rosa identified the chopper as a twin engine Bell 429 model.
The senator said the helicopter was acquired when he was PNP chief.
“That was procured during my time, itong bago ngayon, actually mga one year old or mag-tu-two years pa lang ‘yan. Pagbili niyan bago talaga ‘yan. Si Gen. Gamboa mismo ang chairman ng Bids and Awards Committee na nagtalakay sa pagbili niyan,” Dela Rosa said.
The senator said the helicopter was acquired through public bidding at the price of P435,797,548. The funds for its purchase was sourced from the 2017 national budget.
Gamboa is already in stable condition while PNP Director for Intelligence Police Major General Mariel Magaway and Director for Comptrollership Police Major General Jose Maria Ramos remain unstable.
