Former official (FO) doesn’t want authorities poking their nose into the millions he lost to EastWest Bank following the disappearance of its branch manager.
Politiko’s source said FO had appealed to veteran politiko (VP) not to launch a probe on the issue even if he’s been having sleepless nights over it.
VP surmises FO is afraid skeletons might be dug up if bank officials are invited to an investigation and he’s identified as the depositor at the center of the controversy.
During their chat, FO told VP that another politiko (AP) had the balance of his multimillion-peso account wiped out when EastWest Bank’s branch manager vanished from sight.
Despite the bank’s assurance that their deposits will be returned, FO and AP are still restless. The process of getting their money back will entail tons of paperwork, and both men are wary of leaving a paper trail.
FO and AP fear they could be digging themselves into a hole should they affix their signatures on documents in exchange of having their millions back.
