Baka maging lasinggero! Cayetano seeks regulation of alcopop targeting youth
Senator Pia Cayetano has expressed concern that sale of alcopop or flavored alcoholic beverage might promote alcoholism among the youth if the products are not regulated.
Cayetano showed two Gaz alcopops during a recent Senate inquiry on proposed tax reforms, saying the ready-to-drink alcohol in colorful packages should not be sold to minors.
“‘Alcopops’ are a new variety of mixed alcoholic drinks sold in colorful packs to target the youth. As a parent and health / sin tax advocate, I raised concern how these drinks, which are displayed in
some store shelves alongside regular juice drinks, encourage alcoholism among young Filipinos,” she said in a Facebook post.
