Baka mahuli na! Robredo wants US intel on Pinoy drug lords
Vice President Leni Robredo will ask the United States for intelligence on Filipino drug lords to help local law enforcers in catching them.
Robredo, the co-chairperson of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD), said cooperation on intelligence will be part of the agenda in his meeting with US officials Wednesday (November 13).
“Gusto nating malaman anong resources iyong available, lalo na sa intelligence. Medyo kailangan natin ng malaking tulong sa pagtugis sa mga malalaking drug lords; baka doon tayo matulungan,” she said at the sidelines of a forum in Pasay City Tuesday (November 12).
Robredo earlier met with officials of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) to discuss the best practices of other Southeast Asian countries in fighting illegal drugs.
She said US and UN are not the only foreign entities she will meet to discuss the extent of the Philippines’ drug problem.
“Lahat na puwede nating malapitan sa international community, kasi alam natin na iyong problema sa droga, hindi lang natin iyon—hindi iyon unique sa atin. Hindi natin iyon mareresolba nang tayo lang,” Robredo said.
