Vice President Leni Robredo should only attend Cabinet meetings if the campaign against illegal drugs is on the agenda, Malacañang said Thursday.

“When we have a Cabinet meeting, we are invited by the Cabinet Secretary, and we are asked if we are going or not. In other words, it is optional for us to attend because if it’s not your topic there, you’ll have to stay there for the rest of the meeting until the wee hours of the morning,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo told reporters.

“Kung hindi ka naman kasama doon sa agenda mas masaya siguro kung hindi ka na a-attend. Kaya that’s why I said, you should be thankful, pupunta ka lang kung topic mo,” Panelo said.

Last November 6, Robredo accepted the offer of President Rodrigo Duterte to be co-chairperson of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD) with a Cabinet rank.

The President created ICAD in 2017, through Executive Order 15, to handle the administration’s war on drugs.
