Bakit patay na patay sa galunggong? Cynthia fed up with people asking her to fix their GG imports
Senator Cynthia Villar is fed up with people asking her to help them secure import permits to bring in galunggong which has zoomed up in prices in recent days.
Villar is clueless on why most Filipinos insist on eating galunggong even though there were other fishes in the market that were more affordable.
“Yang galunggong na yan masyadong kontrobersyal. Gustong gusto nila magimport, may naglalakad pa sa akin na bigyan daw sila ng import permit sa galunggong,” said Villar.
“Bakit ba patay na patay tayo? Mahal na ang galunggong, eh ‘di wag kumain ng galunggong. Kumain ng other means which are cheaper and available. Dami namang choices bakit ba ini-insist ‘yan,” she added.
Fish prices have shot up due to the seasonal peak in demand and the three-month closure of fishing zones in Palawan and Zamboanga.
Galunggong prices have nearly doubled to P280 per kilo. The Department of Agriculture has approved the importation of 45,000 metric tons of galunggong and other small pelagic fish. DA is planning approving a second abd bigger batch of imports of up to 100,000 MT.
