Balik-loob? CEZA chief Lambino may return to Lakas after fallout with PDP – sources

Less than a week after the reported resignation of GSIS President Jesus Clint Aranas as treasurer of the ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino – Lakas ng Bayan (PDP Laban), another top official is reportedly set to leave the political party of President Rodrigo Duterte.
Sources told Politiko that Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (CEZA) Administrator Raul Lambino will leave the ruling administration party anytime soon after a recent fallout with some PDP Laban executives.
One of the sources disclosed that the fallout between Lambino and PDP Laban began sometime in late September, after the ruling party decided not to support the mayoralty bid of the CEZA Administrator’s wife in next year’s midterm elections.
Lambino’s wife Marilyn de Guzman-Lambino is seeking the mayorship of Mangaldan town in Pangasinan but the ruling party decided to support another candidate for the upcoming 2019 polls.
After failing to secure her wife’s certificate of nomination and acceptance (CONA) from the ruling administration party, the CEZA Administrator became inactive in the party affairs of PDP.
Lambino is the current vice-president for international affairs of the ruling party.
Another source told Politiko that Lambino might return soon to his original political entity, the once powerful Lakas Christian-Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) since her wife is running under the said party after failing to secure the PDP nomination.
Lambino previously served as senior deputy secretary-general and spokesperson of Lakas during the Arroyo Administration.
Lambino last week was spotted by members of the media during the coalition ceremony between the Lakas-CMD and Mayor Sara Duterte’s Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) in Tacloban City but the official refused to give comment over his impending depature from the ruling party.
