The Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) has decided to keep its ban on the deployment ban of health workers abroad despite an appeal from nurses to allow them to leave the country for jobs overseas.
But, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque reiterated that healthcare professionals with existing overseas contracts as of March 8 are allowed to leave the country for work abroad.
“Nadesisyunan po ng IATF ngayong hapon na yung mga health professionals na meron na pong mga papeles, ibig sabihin yung (overseas employment certificate) na issued ng (Philippine Overseas Employment Administration) at yung employment contract na verified as of March 8, 2020 ay pupwede pong lumabas ng bansa,” according to him.
Roque said that “balik-manggagawa” or workers resuming their jobs overseas are also exempted from the deployment ban.
“Pwede rin pong lumabas ng bansa ang mga Balik Manggagawa o yung mga nagbabakasyon lamang sa Pilipinas at matagal na pong nagtatrabaho sa abroad,” he said.
“Sakop pa rin po ang pagdedeploy abroad ng lahat ng health professionals kung wala po silang dokumento on or before March 8, 2020,” he added.
