Newly appointed Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Director General Gerald Bantag has warned those intending to give him bribes to stop.
“Ang ikakatakot siguro nila ay kahit ilang pera ang isuhol nila sa akin, wala yun,” he said over DZMM.
“Ang sabi ko nga po sa mga personnel sa BuCor hindi ako pumunta dito para magpayaman. Pumunta ako dito para ayusin kayo,” he added.
Bantag stressed that those who does hand him bribes he will file administrative and criminal charges.
With this, he advised both corrupt BuCor personnel and inmates to change their ways for the better.
“Magbago na kayo. Kung hindi, mamalasin kayo,” he warned.
Bantag previously served as Mimaropa regional director of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) before becoming BuCor chief.
He took over from former Marine Captain Nicanor Faeldon who got sacked due to the controversies concerning undeserving convicts being granted good conduct time allowance (GCTA).
The GCTA controversy was uncovered after rape-slay convict former Calauan, Laguna mayor Antonio Sanchez and other heinous crimes convicts were either about or have been released already despite being disqualified under the GCTA law.
