SURIGAO CITY – Surigao del Norte Second district Rep. Robert Ace Barbers has committed to secure a landslide victory for the senatorial bets endorsed by Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte’s Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) party.

In an interview in Surigao City, Barbers said his team in Abante Surigao and his political entity the Nacionalista Party (NP) will try their best to deliver votes for senatorial aspirants supported by the President’s daughter.

“We will try of course. We will try our best to deliver the votes, they will get our votes here in the province in the city. We will try our best,” he said.

Barbers stressed that since 13 candidates are being endorsed by Mayor Duterte’s political entity, he will let his supporters decide to choose their preferred bets. He guaranteed that those senatorial contenders who will win in his province will likely all come from HNP.

“Thirteen sila. So of course, dahil democracy dito we will allow them to choose 12 basta within HNP. We will guarantee that na puro HNP yan,” the reelectionist solon said.

Barbers’s rivals, the Matugas clan who are all members of the ruling administration party, Partido Demokratiko Pilipino – Lakas ng Bayan (PDP Laban), are also supporting 97 percent of the senatorial candidate being supported by Mayor Sara’s Hugpong.

Surigao del Norte currently has close to 330,000 voters as of October 2018.

The Abante Surigao of Barbers on Tuesday hosted HNP’s proclamation rally in Surigao City which was attended by more than 5,000 supporters.

Abante Surigao is a local aggrupation of different political groups—with the exception of PDP Laban and Liberal Party—in Surigao del Norte.

The group formally forged alliance with HNP during the party’s campaign caravan kick-off in CARAGA Region.
