Barias want to see dying dad
Retired Police Director Geary Barias has pleaded before the Sandiganbayan Fourth Division to be allowed of detention so he can see for the last time his dying father.
In an extremely urgent motion submitted before the court, his lawyer, Atty. Joel Ferrer, informed the tribunal that Barias learned from Dr. George Ramos that his father, Dominador Barias Sr, is “already at the final stage of his life.”
Barias, who is detained at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center in Camp Crame, has been charged with several others for malversation through falsification of public documents in connection with anomalous repair and maintenance of V-150 light armored vehicles that cost almost P400 million.
“It bears to emphasize that Accused Barias is seeking this furlough if only to be given the last opportunity to be with his father before the latter meet the invetiable which may happen in all likelihood in a few days now,” read the motion.
“He will dutifully abide by whatever conditions that the Honorable Court may impose, should it grant this motion,” it added.
